Holes Word Search

In our seventh grade class, we are reading Holes by Louis Sachar. So far the students are intrigued by the colorful characters and unusual setting. We have discussed the irony of Camp Green Lake which is neither green nor wet. It's also not the type of camp that any of us would look forward to spending our summers in. We are now on chapter six, and learning why Stanley Yelnats was sent to the camp in the first place. One of the activities we worked on for chapter two to three was creating a word search using the new vocabulary terms we discovered in the story, as well as, the synonyms and key words from their definitions. Students were allowed to work in pairs on this activity, and then they switched their word search puzzles with other pairs or individuals to solve them. It was a fun challenge!
